DRIVER EDUCATION---SAFETY EDUCATION Almost 90 percent of all persons over 16 years old are licensed drivers. That makes driving the primary mode of travel. It is an activity that most people enjoy and one that must be correctly learned and properly practiced if injury is to be prevented. The purpose of our driver training program is to bring to all drivers taking our state certified program the wealth of driving experience Dr. Venditte has gained in his over thirty-two years of teaching. Dr. Venditte's driver education program reflects his ongoing commitment to traffic safety education. The student will complete 20 hours of classroom and 3-5 hours of behind-the-wheel driving as well as a Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicle approved drive test. During the course of study , the law as it relates to the driver, is reviewed. It is important for all drivers to know and obey the law and to know the consequences of disobeying those laws. In addition, Dr. Venditte's state certified course will acquaint the driver education student with the driving techniques and strategies which will prepare the student for a lifetime of safe and responsible driving. Driving scenarios of many types will be provided to assist all students and drivers in the reality of the driving environment. Building safe and responsible drivers is our goal and commitment. The student enrolled in our state certified program will experience a series of innovative learning experiences designed to create a more intelligent and responsible driver. Our program combines current research findings on the driver task with proven educational methods and techniques. Our driver education program focuses on essential driving information presented clearly and accurately in a format so that all students can put into practice the knowledge acquired. Special emphasis is placed upon the risks and decisions teenagers face in today's society and the responsibility of operating a motorized vehicle with those challenges. In addition photographs, videos, speakers, different motor vehicle demonstrations, tests, driver education pamphlets and magazines are provided to reinforce information disseminated by the instructors during the course. A behind-the-wheel checklist and critique of students driving allows the students a supplemental evaluation conducive to their learning environment. This evaluation tool used by the instructor assists the student in perfecting his or her basic driving maneuvers while at the same time monitors the student's driving progress. At the completion of our state approved program all students will have acquired the knowledge and developed the necessary driving skills to become a safe, responsible, and competent driver. Throughout the discourse of the program we will identify a multiplicity of on the road problems. Students will also study, practice and understand defensive driving, traffic signals, traffic signs, pavement markings, right of way, lane changing, lane turning, proper passing techniques, parking, interstate driving, city driving, effects of alcohol and drugs, Implied Consent Law, Safety Responsibility Act, licensing, insurance and additional relevant driver information. A complete study of the car's makeup will be reviewed. Fixing a flat tire along with proper vehicular maintenance and a complete understanding of car insurance will be discussed either in the classroom or during behind the wheel instruction. Backing up the car along with the different types of parking will be discussed. It is always a pleasure to welcome new students to our program. New drivers will experience that special freedom which only a car can provide. The staff of Cornhusker Driving School wants to share the knowledge gained over more than thirty-two years of driving instruction. Our program helps promote safe driving principles that will help make today's student drivers the accomplished drivers of tomorrow.
